Attendees will learn the basic techniques needed to place and finish steel-troweled floors for residential and light commercial projects. Discussions will review "best practices" and "tips" for installing a high-quality, steel-troweled floor. Every step, from ordering concrete to curing, will be covered; special emphasis on understanding proper timing sequence for each finishing step will also be addressed. Attendees will walk away with the knowledge and insight of how to properly run and maintain a walk-behind power trowel.

Formerly Jeff was Mariana Islands Regional Office Manager for GHD Inc., an international consulting engineering firm based in Guam. He has managed the design portion of design-build contracts for federal projects for San Juan Construction. With over 25 years of experience, Jeff specializes in concrete consulting and quality control testing of construction materials including concrete, aggregates, mortar, grout, and masonry units. His experiences include concrete mix proportioning (normal weight, lightweight, heavy weight and roller compacted concrete) for horizontal and vertical construction applications. Frequent speaker, published author, and expert witness, Jeff has consulted around the world on projects involving concrete damage and construction defects. He is an active member of American Concrete institute, American Society of Civil Engineers and ASTM Committee C9 on Concrete Aggregates. Jeff received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Wyoming and is a registered Professional Engineer in Colorado, Wyoming and Guam.

One of North America’s foremost recognized floor finishing consultants, he has been involved in the concrete flooring construction market for over 25 years. Denny has worked in every state in the USA, several Canadian providences, India and in Mexico. He is a voting member of the American Concrete Institute committee ACI C640, Flatwork Finisher Certification, and is an Examiner for both the ACI Flatwork Finisher and ACI Commercial-Industrial Finisher Certification Programs. For many years Denny has been an Examiner at the World of Concrete ACI Commercial-Industrial Finisher Performance Exams and assisted with the certification seminars. He is a very hands-on person with extensive experience in concrete materials, slab set-up, and the use of the necessary hand tools and power equipment that are required to achieve the required finish and specified floor flatness/levelness numbers on any given project. With widespread mechanical knowledge and experience, Denny is also a consultant in the design and manufacturing of placing and finishing equipment and related machinery.
