MO06 - Creating the Base Concrete Slab Canvas for Exposed Decorative/Polished Surfaces

Monday, January 21 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM « Back

For several years now, the concrete decorative/polishing contractor has been asked to create a decorative/polished finish on a newly installed concrete slab surface, or canvass, which has significant deficiencies, making it very difficult to fix and meet the owner’s expectations. Learn what is causing these deficiencies, starting with design detailing, specifications, concrete materials, through placing and finishing techniques that have been proven over millions of square feet of installation over the past ten years. A specific process plan, including checklist, will be presented to the attendees that provides a proven approach in acquiring a higher quality surface for exposed in service and decorative/polished concrete slabs.

1. Identify the top deficiencies affecting finished products
2. Explain how materials and performance measurables may/may not translate into improved aesthetics in slab surface
3. Describe finishing techniques to improve the qualities of concrete canvas
4. Explain proven processes that result in production of the highest quality concrete canvas
